Feeling the Burn...Burning out with all the Holiday Extras?

Yikes! Doesn’t seem like the holiday season is just the season of “extra"? Extra decisions, extra spending, extra time needed, extra long waits, extra everything!? Are you feeling that too, reader? I’m noticing a lot of people getting a little buried these days and I want to make sure that you’re not part of that. What do I mean when I say “buried"? Well, I guess what worries me most is that I see people passing up opportunities to do what's in their best interest because it feels like just. one. more. thing! And it is! One more chance to donate to people in need. One more chance to pick up a gift or take advantage of a sale. One more chance to see someone you haven't seen in a while! And those are all good things!

So, what's going wrong? How do we make space to say “yes” or to say “no"? My recommendation is always to go back to the tried and true to-do list. Now, cross off as much of it as you can! I mean it. Ask yourself what will happen if you don't do _____? Would that really be so bad? What if you could just do less more slowly? What kind of space would that create?

For those of us who celebrate winter holidays, I hope this newsletter can be a reminder to do less. If you’re a regular reader, you know that I have a few special events going on in the Twin Cities and online. (BURL Gallery, Holidays on Nicollet, Mov Yoga Studio) I hope these are not the things you need to take off your list. My art is meant to be empowering and so much of it affirms or represents the inner strength and resilience we possess (whether we realize it or not). I'd like to think that they’re good reminders as we wrap up our year. But, if it's too much, it's too much! You do you, as they say.

Have you read this and are still feeling totally tied to your list? Maybe even overwhelmed? Remember, your first coaching session is always free. It could be a good time to ask for support. I’d be happy to talk with you. I know December can be a tough month. Reach out if anything resonates for you. We can set up a call when the holiday slows down for you.

Rooting for you-
